TEHRAN - Hopes for a thaw in stalled decades-long stalled relations between Egypt and Iran were dented after Egyptian Foreign Ministry accused Tehran of meddling in domestic affairs of Middle East countries.

TEHRAN – Despite its vitality for the Middle East, no special advance has been made on relations between Tehran and Cairo, stalled for about four decades now, a spokesman with Iran’s Foreign Ministry said on Monday.
In the Middle East, the two most contiguous cultures are the Egyptian and Persian civilizations. For ages, they stood as beacons of durable learning and contributed immeasurably to human progress.
TEHRAN – A high-ranking Egyptian official will travel to Iran in the coming days, ISNA on Wednesday quoted an Egyptian news agency whose name could not be verified.
TEHRAN – Yasser Othman, the head of Egypt’s Interests Section office in Tehran, met with Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Monday to discuss regional issues.
Iran defeated Egypt 4-1 in its second match in the Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup on Wednesday.
The Iranian foreign minister personally requested that Egypt attend last weekend’s key Syria talks – a move that has sparked concerns that Cairo is being wooed away from its traditional pro-western stance in the region.
