A small city, Khorramshahr was liberated May 24, 1982, when millions of Iranians took to streets to victoriously celebrate the liberation.

    Female farmers work on paddy fields planting rice after the fields are ploughed in the northern city of Rasht.  Planting season begins in mid-spring when the weather gets warm in the region. Rice seeds are first planted close together in one flooded paddy and grows into seedlings that will be transplanted into paddy fields.

    Iranian volleyball players took on-pitch selfie ahead of their friendly match against Poland Saturday night. Iran lost to powerhouse Poland in straight sets (25-19, 25-19, 25-23) in front of 11,000 cheering fans in Katowice. Igor Kolakovic had already defeated Montenegro twice and earned a victory over Slovenia and lost to them once in the past two weeks. The Iranian team are preparing for the FIVB World League 2017.

    Rose harvest season in southern Iran

    Harvesting Damask rose, known as Gol-e Mohammadi in Iran, is an annual practice in Meymand, a city in the southern province of Fars.  The city produces over 10,000 tons of rose water out of the flower, accounting for over 60 percent of Iran’s rose water export.  Iranians use Damask rose in cooking, tea serving, and celebrations in its various forms, although it doesn’t play much part in the Western societies.  The flowers are also renowned for their fine fragrance, and are commercially harvested for extracting rose water and oil.

    Prophet’s first revelation celebrated

    Thousands of Iranians gathered in the religious city of Mashhad in the Holy Shrine of Imam Reza (AS) on Monday to celebrate Eid al-Mab’ath, the anniversary of the day Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) received his first revelation and was chosen as Allah’s final messenger. The revered occasion, which falls on the 27th of the month of Rajab on the Islamic lunar calendar, is a public holiday in Iran. Many head to holy cities and sites, including Mashhad and Qom, to participate in religious festivities.

    Fars Province finished in first place in the Iran’s women’s alpine skiing held in Dizin resort on Monday.  The competition brought all age groups together in Dizin resort, in the Alborz Mountains north of Tehran. The two-day event was held in two disciplines Slalom and Giant Slalom.  Dizin resort has been around for 47 years and is recognized by the International Ski Federation (FIS).
