    Boccia competition was held in Iran Sports Federation for the Disabled in Tehran on Saturday.  Boccia is a precision ball sport, similar to bowls, that can be played by individuals, pairs, or teams of three. The aim of the game is to throw leather balls as close as they can to a target ball or ‘jack’. Boccia athletes typically have a disability, such as cerebral palsy or other neurological conditions, and use a wheelchair.

    Reaping wheat in a traditional way in a village in Isfahan province, central Iran, renews memories of the not-too-distant years when farmers had to collect their crops traditionally, mostly using sickle. This picture shows reaping in the village called Soh, which is about 3000-years old. Still in the not-too distant past Iranians greatly cherished wheat or bread as the breadbasket of the families. Even today Iranians eat bread a lot, ranking among the first two countries in the world.

    Iran Greco-Roman wrestling team finished in first place at the 2017 Asian Junior Championships in Thailand. Iranian wrestlers snatched two gold, three silver and one bronze medals in the competition. The 2017 Junior Asian Wrestling Championships opened in Thailand’s capital Bangkok on Thursday (July 20). In mid-summer the lake loses its water due to high evaporation leaving behind a white bed and reddish color water.     Iranian mountaineer Reza Shahlaei has reached the peak of Nanga Parbat. Nanga Parbat is the ninth highest mountain in the world at 8,126 meters above sea level. It is the western anchor of the Himalayas around which the Indus River skirts into the plains of Pakistan.     36th martyrdom anniversary of professor-commander Chamran

    June 20 marked the 36th martyrdom anniversary of professor-commander Mostafa Chamran, the first Iranian defense minister after the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Born in 1932, Chamran was a member of parliament, as well as the commander of paramilitary volunteers during the Iraq–Iran War (1980-1988 ). Chamran left his academic career as a scientist and professor at the University of California, Berkeley in order to help Islamic movements in Palestine, Lebanon and Egypt. He was also instrumental in the struggles leading to the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran. Chamran died on June 20 1981 after being hit by shrapnel shells in Dehlavieh, a region in Iran’s southern Khuzestan Province during the 1980-1988 Iraqi imposed war on Iran.

Sardar Azmoun and Mehdi Taremi scored for Team Melli to cement Iran’s lead at the top of Group A with two matches left.
